Other TCGs have their own special way to bring cards out that isn't close to the MTG game. Pokemon has an evolution set up and resources you have to put into that Pokemon to use their move sets. Yu-Gi-Oh has a different way to bring out their monsters and spells, like with tributes and special summons and so on. In legal terms, both games are too close in what counts as their own resources. They even have similar colors per resource as well. Both games have the same number of resources (5) and require the player to add a good bit of those resources into their deck and draw them in order to use them. Both games when you spend that token, you cannot use it again until your next turn. Both games you can only play one resource token per turn. This is where the legal system of copy right law looks closely as it how close they are. Despite those being different, they still followed the same line of focus in the game rules. They have a different name, they have a different image, and they have a different sort of value in each of them. They are of course not completely the same. Here is the point that you seem to be missing with the resources. If you only have 4 blue gems but have a card that needs you to have 2 swamp but you are missing those shards, then you cannot play that card.

Hex has a shard counter with different color gems you can place. That white circle can be filled with any land/resources you have with the added required land type like plane or swamp. In MTG there is a white circle with a number with also a number of land symbols on it. Ease up now, I know you are upset but this one example that you put on the table as it being different isn't.
